Aims and scope

Biocompounds is the leading international peer-reviewed journal focusing on biological compounds. This journal serves as a platform for researchers to share their insights and discoveries regarding all aspects of biological compounds originating from plants, animals and microorganisms as well as their applications in pharmaceutical and medical, cosmetics, food, agriculture, fine and bulk chemical industries.

Coverage includes, but is not limited to, the following research topics and areas:

  • Isolation and analysis of biocompounds: New and high-throughput methods in screening, isolation and analysis of biocompounds.
  • Metabolic pathways of biocompounds: Studies of biosynthesis pathways of biocompounds in living organisms as well as the use of Omics technologies for characterization and determining the pathways of biocompounds.
  • Synthesis of biocompounds: New biochemical and chemical technologies for in vitro synthesis or cell-free synthesis as well as stereoselective synthesis of biocompounds.
  • Biotechnology and bioengineering in the production of biocompounds: Strain development and improvement for the production of biocompounds using cutting-edge and emerging technologies as well as optimization and large-scale production of biocompounds.
  • Purification of biocompounds: Effective and new downstream process for recovery and purification of biocompounds.
  • Biological activity and applications of biocompounds: Evaluating applications of biocompounds in pharmaceutical and medical (in vitro and in vivo studies), cosmetics, food, agriculture, fine and bulk chemical industries.

Important Note: Biocompounds are chemical compounds obtained from plants, animals and microorganisms. They are of interest due to their natural origin and their unique properties which offer sustainable alternatives to conventional chemical compounds and they have great potential in various applications. Author(s) should state in the cover letter (a) why the studied material should be considered "Biocompounds"; (b) why the study falls within the Aims and Scope of the journal; and (c) what is the innovation of the study. Papers that lack Biocompounds relevance will be rejected for being out of scope.
